Our Values

Our Mission

Excellence in care and education for Western Australian children.

Our Philosophy

Our aim is to achieve excellence in care and education for the children at our centres.

We achieve this by providing a fun-filled, non-threatening environment where the children and their families feel comfortable, are accepted and are valued as individuals.

We achieve this by being excellent role models for the children. We are friendly, trustworthy, patient, understanding and compassionate. We provide guidance based on sensitivity and positive reinforcement. We listen with empathy and respond with understanding to the children, their families and to each other. We provide continuity of care, so the children develop confidence and security in us.

We achieve this by encouraging all children’s learning and growth, equally and without bias. We provide them with stimulating and challenging programs, while catering to individual needs. We expose them to diversity, motivate them through play and discovery, and constantly reaffirm their self-esteem. We more than meet their basic needs, including nutritious meals, clean and hygienic facilities, safety and security.

Both the children and their families are central to everything we do, and the input of families is essential to our achieving and maintaining excellence. We invite their input into the development and review of our philosophy, goals, programs and policies. We seek their contribution in the construction of children’s individual programs. We actively encourage their in-depth feedback on the service we provide. We value the cultural diversity they bring to the running of our centre.

Our centre, the children, and their families are part of a larger community. We are open and supportive in our communication with others in the community, we welcome their ideas and views and we maintain positive relationships with them.

The families of children in our care can relax in the reassurance that their children are happy, safe and are given every opportunity to learn and grow while they are at Jacaranda Childcare.

Our Goals

  1. Friendly and caring staff
Our staff are selected for their caring and compassionate nature as much as for their qualifications and experience.
We provide the children in our care with compassion and love at all times, and we guide them with positive reinforcement.
All centres are accredited with the National Child Care Accreditation Council link.

  2. A safe place for all
The safety and security of children is of prime importance to us. For example, our staff will only hand the children in our care over to the nominated parents or other nominated adult. All staff are trained in emergency evacuations. Every centre has staff members with first aid qualifications. Children are under constant supervision to ensure they are safe and protected at all times.

  3. Positive and stimulating learning
We have special developmental programs for all the children in our care, designed to enhance their optimum development. We provide time for children to follow their interests, to explore and learn, and to discover new toys, equipment and games.
Every child’s progress is individually monitored and documented. This information is available for parents to inspect at any time. We welcome parent’s involvement in these learning programs.

    We also offer:
    • Introductory reading classes by “Letterland” and "Phonics".
    • Excursions to interesting places.
    • Special activities (e.g. Grandparent days, end of year parties, birthday celebrations).
    • Exciting visitors (e.g. police, fire brigade, nurse, baby animals, story-tellers).
    • Dance lessons – by Kindadance (at a small additional cost).

  4. Lots of fun for everyone
We aim to provide fun and friendship for all children in our care. Children have lots of playtime with other children and adult carers. We create a fun environment at Jacaranda that makes learning easy. We encourage laughter and the freedom to express other feelings, whether of happiness or sadness, satisfaction or frustration, energy or tiredness.
We balance all playtime and activities with the opportunity to rest every day.

  5. Nutritious and enjoyable meals
All our cooks have nutrition training and our menus provide a balanced and nutritious diet. We will cater for individual dietary needs. Meal costs are included in fees. All centres have “Foodsafe” certification.

  6. Continuity of our fabulous staff
We minimise changes in room staff so the friendship that develops between the children and our staff can foster and grow.

  7. Effective communication with everyone
We recognise that an in-depth understanding of the needs of the children in our care and the needs of their parents is essential to providing excellent care. We gain this understanding through carefully observing and listening to the children at all times, and through our “open door” policy – which means we listen to and actively encourage input and feedback from all parents on the quality of our care.

  8. Excellent hygiene standards
We aim for excellent standards of cleanliness and hygiene. Our centres are kept clean at all times, we ensure the hygienic preparation of food, we have hygiene rules for staff and we encourage the children to also follow simple hygiene rules. Floors are cleaned every day with natural products, we regularly clean and disinfect toys, we have strict procedures for the washing of hands, we use gloves in the kitchen for the handling of food.
